The BC Salmon Marketing Council, which represents the commercial, wild-catch salmon fishermen in British Columbia, Canada, has made two additions to its marketing team.
Lisa Simonson, the owner of design and branding firm Simon Taylor Designs, has been hired for the position of marketing manager with oversight over branding and activation. In her new job, Simonson will develop positioning recommendations, guide market research analysis and define brand elements and tone to further enhance the branding of BC salmon, according to a press release.
Derek Perkins joins the council as marketing manager overseeing strategy and channel integration. The owner of Mile Zero Marketing, Perkins has more than 20 years of advertising and marketing experience in a wide variety of categories, including recent marketing positions in the seafood industry. He will lead the council’s efforts in developing an integrated marketing and advertising strategy 2017-2018.
“We welcome Derek and Lisa to the team. Combined, their experience and expertise will facilitate and support the Council’s objective of improved branding and market positioning of Wild BC salmon,” BC Salmon Marketing Council Managing Director Steven Richards said. “Wild B.C. salmon is one of Canada’s and British Columbia’s most iconic symbols and the stories of fishermen and their families, healthy coastal communities, sustainable fishing practices and nutrition are stories will be heard as we move forward.”
