Bristol Seafood hires Mike Lodato as new VP of sales

Portland, Maine-based supplier Bristol Seafood has hired Mike Lodato as its new vice president of sales, the company announced on 9 September.

Before arriving at Bristol, Lodato spent 22 years working for Diversified Communications, the owner of SeafoodSource and the operator of several leading global seafood trade events including Seafood Expo North America in Boston, Massachusetts; Seafood Expo Global in Brussels, Belgium; and Seafood Expo Asia, in Hong Kong. In his most recent position, as an executive vice president at Diversified, Lodato was responsible for long-term, sustainable growth as well as overseeing overarching sales expansion strategies.

“Mike has a demonstrated track record of success, and his values align with the work we do at Bristol.  I am pleased to have him join our leadership team, and look forward to working with him to share our Uncompromising Maine Standards with our customers,” said Peter Handy, Bristol’s president and CEO, of Lodato’s appointment.

Lodato said he looks forward to delving even deeper into the sustainable seafood industry with Bristol.

“Bristol is a socially responsible company focused on producing premium, sustainable seafood,” Lodato said in a press release. “I look forward to helping get it on the plates of more Americans. I have always worked closely with the marine and seafood industry and I look forward to expanding my seafood knowledge, as well as building on the strength of the Bristol brand across the country.”

Founded in 1992, Bristol Seafood specializes in the sale of its select core species, including scallops, long-line caught Norwegian haddock, Alaskan cod, and wild Maine mussels. The company became the first to earn a Fair Trade certification for seafood harvested in U.S. waters in 2017, and was named “Business of the Year” by the City of Portland, Maine that same year.
