Cermaq makes senior management appointments

Oslo, Norway-headquartered salmon and trout producer Cermaq has named Ole Martin Grimsrud as its new chief financial officer (CFO), while Erlend Reiten is to take up the new position of chief transformation officer (CTO). Both appointments come into effect on 1 September.

Forty-three-year-old Grimsrud is leaving his position as CFO of Aker Solutions to take up the role at Cermaq. He holds a master’s degree in industrial economics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and has also experience working at Elkem and Norske Skog.

“Aquaculture is an attractive and growing industry being essential to our future. I look forward to joining a world leading company as Cermaq and [to] contribute to Cermaq’s development and successes,” Grimsrud said.

Reiten, meanwhile, is Cermaq’s acting CFO and has also served as the company's head of strategy. Prior to joining Cermaq in 2016 he spent five years at The Boston Consulting Group. He holds a master’s degree in economics from The University of Oxford.

“We want to be at the forefront when it comes to operational standards and application of new technology,” Cermaq CEO Geir Molvik said. “The CTO will hold responsibility for establishing and developing best practice sharing and the ability to continuously improve across the company. Erlend [has], during his time in Cermaq, worked closely with the executive team and I’m confident that his experience and motivation will be a key driver towards reaching our strategic ambitions.”

Mitsubishi Corporation-owned Cermaq annually produces around 180,000 metric tons (MT) of salmonids at its farming sites in Norway, Chile, and Canada.
