– Stavanger, Norway-based aquaculture feed and services company Skretting Norway has appointed Mads Martinsen as its new general manager after Håvard Walde left the position to become managing director for the firm's salmon operations in Australia, Chile, North America, and Norway.

“I’ve practically grown up on the edge of a fish pen, and I’m filled with both joy and a sense of awe at being given the opportunity to help drive the development of the feed side in Norwegian aquaculture,” Martinsen said.

He added that Skretting has “some fantastic opportunities to produce even more of the best and most sustainable food the world demands."

"Fortunately, we’re in a position to make this happen because we have partnership agreements in place that provide strong opportunities to create value through innovation, sustainability, and the development of products the industry both needs and wants," Martinsen said.

Walde said that, in Martinsen’s appointment, the company had “gained a capable leader who knows the company well and has a strong commitment to aquaculture.”

Martinsen is a seven-year veteran of the company, formerly serving as director of product development and sustainability. He studied fisheries at the University of Tromsø and also held several research roles post-graduation.

– Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.-based aquaculture technology company Innovasea has announced that Torstein Mellingen has been appointed sales director for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) and Sigve Naustdal has been promoted to managing director for Innovasea Norway.

"Their documented results and deep expertise make them ideally positioned to lead our next growth phase," Innovasea Vice President Tim Stone said.

Mellingen moves into the EMEA sales director role from the business development side of the organization. One of his key responsibilities will be to strategically strengthen the company’s European workforce through internal promotions and outside hires.

“I look forward to building a team that is agile, customer-focused, and able to deliver tangible value in every interaction,” Mellingen said.

Naustdal, also an Innovasea veteran, moves into the managing director position after spending five years as the technical director of the firm's Norway operations.

He said that he planned to work closely with Mellingen to “redefin[e] existing roles and creat[e] new ones [so that] we can better leverage the expertise within our team to meet customer needs more effectively.”

– Puerto Montt, Chile-based salmon-farming firm Invermar has announced María Cecilia Martínez Bayer as the organization's new quality manager.

A 20-year veteran of the aquaculture industry, Martínez Bayer will now lead the Invermar Certification and Nutrition departments.

"[Martínez Bayer’s] management in the areas of certifications and nutrition is crucial for facilitating the adoption of advanced technologies and methodologies that maximize feed efficiency, contribute to environmental sustainability, and enhance the sector's competitiveness," the firm said in a release. "This [promotion] reinforces our commitment to innovation and the implementation of practices aimed at precision aquaculture.”
