To keep up to date with the latest personnel changes across the seafood industry, SeafoodSource is compiling a regular round-up of hiring announcements and other personnel-related shifts worldwide. If you have an announcement, please send it to [email protected].

– Stian Vollan-Hansen has been named the new CFO of Trondheim, Norway-based cod-farming firm Norcod, effective 1 December.

Vollan-Hansen brings nearly a decade of financial management and business development experience with him from his time spent at Entro, a Scandinavian energy consultancy, where he most recently served as CFO.

“I am confident that [Vollan-Hansen's] experience, knowledge, and positive energy will be a valuable contribution to the company in our efforts to make industrial-scale cod farming a commercial success,” Norcod CEO Christian Riber said.

For his part, Vollan-Hansen said that the future of the company “is bright as the world needs more healthy and sustainable seafood, and Norcod has come a far way in pioneering cod farming on an industrial scale.”

“I look forward to contributing to making this economically sustainable and realizing the huge potential I see for Norcod and cod farming,” Vollan-Hansen said.

Trym Are Sivertsen will serve as Norcod’s interim CFO until Vollan-Hansen assumes the role of CFO.

The company also announced that Arve Olav Lervåg would take over as production director on 1 December.

Lervåg succeeds Tsjipke Deuzeman, who will join the freshwater aquaculture company Svåholmen AS as general manager in the new year of 2025.

Lervåg is a nearly 30-year veteran of the aquaculture sector, having most recently served as executive director of aquaculture at Norway Royal Salmon (NRS). Before working at NRS, he spent 10 years at Lerøy, where he served as both production coordinator and production manager.

“Lervåg brings with him extensive and valuable expertise from salmon farming, and I am confident that his experience in commercial operations, along with his leadership qualities, will be a great asset to Norcod,” Riber said.

Norcod has posted high revenue while also sustaining losses due to a marine heat wave.

– Mountain View, California, U.S.A.-headquartered aquaculture company Tidal is expanding its operations in Bergen, Norway, with the announcement of a new hire.

Kristine Langaunet has been named as the company's new senior sales executive. Languanet brings experience from BioMar, where she most recently served as head of product marketing for salmon.

“As senior sales executive, I will bring solid industry knowledge and experience to the table,” Languanet said in a release. “With a strategic approach, I aim to drive growth and add value to Norway’s aquaculture industry. My focus will be on building strong, long-term customer relationships and developing sales strategies tailored to market needs – in close collaboration with Tidal’s fantastic technology team.”

“I am deeply grateful to have someone of Kristine’s caliber on the team,” Fossøy said. "Her industry expertise and insights are a fantastic addition to a Tidal team that is already thriving. We are seeing great interest from customers and have several exciting developments on the horizon.”

The firm’s Norway operations were established earlier this year with the appointment of former Aquabyte Commercial Director Anders Fossøy as Norwegian expansion lead.

Tidal was founded under a project from Google parent company Alphabet. It provides tech-enabled, sustainable solutions to aquaculture producers.
