– Reston, Virginia, U.S.A.-based Starkist, a subsidiary of South Korea-based Dongwon Group, has named Eunhong (Edward) Min CEO. Min moves into the role from leadership roles at Dongwon Industries and Dongwon Systems, Dongwon Group subsidiaries that specialize in supplying the Korean fishing industry and packaging solutions, respectively.
"It is an honor and a profound responsibility to lead StarKist into the future," Min said. "With a strong legacy of trust, quality, and innovation, StarKist has built an unparalleled connection with consumers. As we navigate an evolving market, we will remain focused on delivering high-quality protein products that consumers love while driving strategic growth. I look forward to working with the talented StarKist team to build on this legacy and shape the future of the industry."
Prior to coming to Dongwong, Min spent nearly three decades at Procter & Gamble Asia. In a release about the appointment, Starkist said that Min “played a pivotal role in developing customer-centric strategies and driving double-digit business growth,” in his time as Senior Sales Director in Asia for the company.
Min’s appointment comes after Starkist paid USD 3.88 million (EUR 3.72 million) to settle claims of tuna-price fixing brought by a number of U.S. retailers in July 2024. Starkist pleaded guilty in 2018 to claims that it had fixed prices of its canned tuna sold in the U.S. between 2011 and 2013. The 2024 payment was the result of a deal proposed to end the civil litigation which followed these charges.
