Stavis Seafoods hires longtime industry veteran as new VP of sales

David Lancaster has joined Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.-based supplier Stavis Seafoods as its new vice president of sales, the company announced on 19 March.

Lancaster has more than 30 years of experience in sales and management within the seafood industry, the firm said in a press release. In his new role, Lancaster will spearhead the overall management of the sales team and will steer the strategic direction of the multinational fishing and manufacturing firm’s sales efforts. He will also lead Stavis’ multi-channel sales campaigns.

“As we expand our vertical integration capabilities, develop new products, and increase our sales effort, David is the ideal person to lead our sales team,” Stavis Seafoods Chairman of the Board Juan Manuel said. “His vast experience in seafood, operations, and product innovation will help us better identify and execute on new opportunities as well as enhance our ability to meet customer needs. We are excited he has joined Stavis Seafoods and look for great things from him as we continue to grow.”

Before joining Stavis, Lancaster owned and operated Interbay Seafoods, his own seafood business based out of Falmouth, Massachusetts. Specializing in the delivery of high-quality, fresh and live New England seafood, Interbay’s national sales efforts were led by Lancaster. He also, as the owner of the business, oversaw the company’s operations, purchasing, staffing, and all departments. Lancaster also worked for Wellfleet Shellfish as a general manager, where he guided daily facility operations and helped to develop and expand a year-round customer base.

In the early 2000’s, Lancaster also worked for Stavis Seafoods as a sales manager before he left to start Interbay. His previous tenure with the company saw him professionalize the sales effort, which led to a 50 percent increase in sales, according to Stavis.

Earlier in his career, Lancaster served as sales manager for Renton, Washington-based Orca Bay Seafoods and was co-founder of Passport Foods, a frozen foods company located in Seattle, Washington.
