Canada to host upcoming Sustainable Ocean Summit

The World Ocean Council will host the fifth edition of the Sustainable Ocean Summit (SOS) in Halifax, Canada, near the end of 2017, from 29 November to 1 December, it announced in early July.

The three-day event will see attendees exploring a vast array of maritime cross-sector topics including marine pollution, ocean industry projections and the future of the ocean economy, climate change and ocean acidification, sustainable fishing and aquaculture.

Ultimately, through the events plenaries, workshops and parallel sessions, SOS 2017 participants will be able to identify “clear, realistic pathways to successfully achieving shared objectives for sustainable ocean use,” according to the council.

The event is currently open for registration, with early bird rates ending on 1 October.
