Anova Seafood to roll out new packaging for seaweed products at Seafood Expo Global

International seafood supplier Anova Seafood plans to showcase new packaging for its seaweed products during the upcoming Seafood Expo Global event, taking place in Brussels, Belgium from 7 to 9 May.

The company will present two new designs for its Chuka Wakame and Hijike seaweed products at the expo, it said in a press release. Koen Verburg, Anova’s operations director, said the packaging was inspired by modern food trends and developing consumer interests.

“We are thrilled to reveal our new packages at Seafood Expo. As food trends and diets change, we need to stay relevant to consumer’s needs. Over the last decade, the public’s food conscience has grown. Anova believes in making pure and responsible fish choices available to every consumer,” said Verburg in a press statement.

Anova sold its frozen department earlier in 2019, and has recently been applying its focus to the European retail and foodservice markets for fresh and chilled seafood products, it said.

“We strive to offer our valued customers in Europe a sustainable and broad choice,” explained Erwin Spook, the commercial director for Anova. “Think of a wide range of fresh products, like Lake Victoria Perch from East Africa, North Atlantic species like cod and saithe. And our Dutch sustainable farmed catfish and Claresse. Also we have an equally broad range of chilled products: albacore tuna, cod, seaweed and Hijiki.”

According to Spook, Anova is looking forward to meeting up with its established colleagues and partners at the upcoming exposition, as well as “other experts in the field to widen our suppliers base.”

“What’s more interesting than to join forces to take things to another level?” Spook said.

Anova Seafood will be exhibiting in Hall 6 at Stand #1023 during Seafood Expo Global, the company confirmed in its release.
