Gluten-free beer-battered cod makes its Pacific Seafood debut

U.S.-based company Pacific Seafood Group is rolling out a new series of beer battered products to add to its line of breaded and battered fish.

Under the Pacific Sustainable Seafood brand name, the company is introducing Classic and Gluten Free Beer Battered Cod. Both products have been made with 100 percent beer and no water, establishing Pacific Seafood as one of the first ever seafood companies to create an authentic beer battered line of fish, according to representatives.

For the Gluten Free Beer Battered Cod, Pacific Seafood utilized Groundbreaker beer, an entirely gluten-free beverage made from lentils and other locally grown ingredients.

“Our Classic and Gluten Free Beer Battered Cod is made with local Northwest ingredients ensuring quality and excellence with every product purchased. We are proud to use locally sourced ingredients to provide the most sustainable and delicious seafood possible,” said Terry Horgan, General Manager of Branded Sales, in a prepared statement. “Customers have responded well to this new product offering.”

Pacific Seafood was recently awarded with the Pacific Sustainable Seafood’s Gluten Free Beer Battered Cod 2015 Editor’s Choice Pick from Progressive Grocer – which ranks various retail products on the basis of innovation, taste, functionality and value. Of the product, Progressive Grocer editors remarked: “No Gluten. We couldn’t tell. This fish cooks up crispy and delicious, tender and flaky. The label is about as clean as you can get: sustainably sourced, traceable, no artificial ingredients. And, of course, gluten free.”
