Limited edition fish finger packaging launched by Birds Eye

Birds Eye has released new limited edition packs of fish fingers featuring the recipes of both the professional and public winners of this year’s inaugural U.K. Fish Finger Sandwich Awards.

The competition’s first champions were crowned in February with Gabrielle Sander from Enfield, London, and Chris Lanyon of Chapel Café, Cornwall, scooping the public and professional categories respectively. 

The competition was organized by Birds Eye, with the winners chosen in a live cook-off final in London.

Sander’s winning fish finger sandwich comprised mayonnaise, smoked paprika, capers, lime juice, wasabi and rocket, while Lanyon presented a fresh Cornish hake fillet coated in panko breadcrumbs, sandwiched between two pieces of locally made multi-seed bread and homemade tartare sauce.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing my recipe on the shelves! It’s such a great achievement to have won the title of the best professional fish finger sandwich and our trophy is taking pride of place in the restaurant. We’re honored to have one of our favourite British dishes, which we’ve worked hard to perfect over the years, recognized by Birds Eye and all the judges, and am thrilled that I can share it with the nation,” said Lanyon. 

His “Chapel Classic” sandwich appears on 10 Omega-3 Fish Finger packs, while Sanders’ fish finger sandwich features on packs of 10 Cod Fish Fingers.
