Long John Silver’s new flagship restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky, will serve as a testing spot for menu and brand innovation – and will be among the first of the seafood restaurant chain’s eateries to highlight a new design concept.
The exterior of the new design being rolled out by the chain of nearly 1,000 restaurants features an overall contemporary look, sleek lines, and added colors, according to Long John’s Silver’s. A railing on the roof evokes the bow railing on a ship, along with red and green nautical lights.
For existing restaurants, the interior redesign features a clean, modern design with wood tones and nautical cues, while the solid brass ship’s bell and nautical highlights remain integral parts of the restaurant.
LJS’s new kitchen design includes a “more efficient prep line that will lead to improved service times and a cooking grill to facilitate the rollout of exciting new grilled seafood offerings,” the company said in a statement.
“The re-design reflects years of collaboration from a talented and dedicated team of franchisees and our corporate staff to bring to life our restaurant of the future,” CEO James O’Reilly said. “2018 marks an important year in the revitalization of the Long John Silver’s brand and I can think of no better way to begin than with this new restaurant.”
The new theme is the third major redesign in the brand’s history and will eventually replace LJS’s traditional Cape Cod-style design.
LJS is also the first quick-service restaurant company to install “the drive-thru of the future,” the company said. The drive-thru system features three, 55-inch high definition digital video screens backed by “cutting-edge” audio and driven by a computer-operated ordering and display system.
