Long John Silver's rolls out "homestyle buttermilk cod" dish

Long John Silver’s, which operates nearly 1,000 seafood restaurants in the United States, launched a new dish: homestyle buttermilk cod.

The hand-breaded fish, made with 100 percent wild Alaskan cod, is served with natural-cut fries and hushpuppies for USD 5.99 (EUR 5.36). The basket can be upgraded with creamy coleslaw or another signature side to make it a meal.

It is available from 29 May through 27 August at participating LJS restaurants.

“Buttermilk is such a great summer flavor and we’ve added convenience,” said Peter Czizek, vice president of culinary innovation and quality assurance for LJS. “Summer is meant for spending time with family, so we’ve got dinner covered.”

The fish LJS uses is flash-frozen while still aboard fishing boats to lock in the flavor, according to the company.
