NFI Salmon Council kicks off 2018 with American Heart Month campaign

The National Fisheries Institute’s Salmon Council has mobilized behind American Heart Month to create its first online initiative of 2018, which highlights the nutritious value of salmon and its proven benefits for cardiovascular health.

Two notable blogger influencers, Sara Welch of Diethood and Katerina Petrovska of Dinner at the Zoo, have partnered with NFI’s Salmon Council for the initiative, and have shared recipe creations digitally that emphasize salmon and American Heart Month.

The recipes shared by Welch and Petrovska include:

“Both recipes underscore the ease of preparation and delicious taste of salmon in addition to its powerful nutritional benefits,” according to NFI and the Salmon Council.

“Salmon is consistently praised for the nutritive benefits its heart-healthy omega-3s deliver,” NFI Senior Director of Communications and Advocacy Brandon Phillips said. “Through a host of tactics, including our powerful influencer partnerships, social media activity and news media outreach, we are shining the spotlight on salmon as not only heart-healthy but also delicious and the perfect protein selection for enjoyment at home or in restaurants.”

The influencer’s recipes, alongside NFI’s existing Hooked on Salmon Facebook and Pinterest channels, have already garnered 578,000 impressions as of 21 February, the council said.
