Quiznos, Red Lobster first to offer Lent promotions; seafood chain expands

Quiznos and Red Lobster are among the first U.S. restaurant chains to launch new menu items for the Lenten season.

Denver, Colorado-based Quiznos – which operates around 500 restaurants – brought back its “fan favorite” Lobster Classic sub sandwich and added the Old Bay Lobster Club, “which elevates the lobster and seafood salad with the additions of Old Bay Seasoning, bacon, lettuce, and tomato,” the restaurant company said, per QSR Magazine.

The Old Bay sub also includes spicy mayo, made with new Old Bay Hot Sauce.

Quiznos’ Lobster Classic includes a lobster and seafood salad with shredded lettuce served on Italian white bread. Both subs are available for a limited time.

Both sandwiches are made primarily with lobster but also include Alaskan pollock, Quiznos said on its website.

“We are thrilled lobster is returning to the menu for the eleventh consecutive year – this time kicked up a notch with the tangy and herbaceous addition of Old Bay hot sauce and seasoning,” Mike Gieseman, director of culinary and innovation for REGO Restaurant Group, which owns Quiznos, said. “Each bite of these mouthwatering and delectable sandwiches will transport our consumers to summer memories, sure to keep them warm all winter long.”

Meanwhile, Orlando, Florida-based Red Lobster recently added Bacon-Wrapped Sea Scallops and a Waygu Bacon Cheeseburger to its menu, Delish reported.

In related news, seafood restaurant company Catch Hospitality Group is adding two new CATCH STEAK locations in Los Angeles, California, and Aspen, Colorado, this summer.

The New York City, New York-based company’s CATCH STEAK concept includes indoor and outdoor seating in a 20,000-square-foot meatpacking steakhouse-style environment, the company said in a press release.

Catch operates seafood-centric restaurants in New York; Los Angeles; Las Vegas; and Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

"Aspen and Melrose Place will offer CATCH's world-renowned dishes with unparalleled, scenic views. This concept has been a huge success and we look forward to adding these destinations to our portfolio,” Catch Hospitaltiy Group Partner Tilman Fertitta said.
