Red Lobster puts shrimp first in 2017

Major North American seafood restaurant company Red Lobster has kicked off its Big Festival of Shrimp – the first special, limited-time event launched by the foodservice powerhouse in 2017.

The promotional celebration, which started on 3 January, boasts three new shrimp dishes, including Wild-Caught Firecracker Red Shrimp with panko-crusted, wild-caught red shrimp tossed in a sweet and spicy chili sauce; Creamy Shrimp-and-Cheese Linguini, which features shrimp and linguini tossed in a creamy cheddar and parmesan sauce, topped with toasted parmesan panko; and Bourbon-Brown Sugar Grilled Shrimp, which comes complete with wood-grilled shrimp brushed with a bourbon and brown sugar glaze.

To take advantage of the festival’s benefits, restaurant guests can choose two of six new or classic shrimp preparations for USD 15.99 (EUR 15.18). Classic dishes applicable to the event include Red Lobster’s signature Hand-Crafted Garlic Shrimp Scampi, Parrot Isle Jumbo Coconut Shrimp and the Garlic-Grilled Shrimp Skewer.

"Shrimp is one of the most versatile seafood proteins, making it perfect for seafood lovers to explore new flavors and preparations," Dustin Hilinski, executive chef and culinary director at Red Lobster, said in a news release. "The Big Festival of Shrimp is a great opportunity for guests to try new combinations, and perhaps even expand their flavor palates as they start the new year."

An array of seasonal sides are available to accompany each shrimp dish, such as the Roasted Green Beans and Mushrooms and Roasted Carrots and Butternut Squash, which are both topped with a bourbon brown butter. Newly conceived specialty cocktails are also available for the promotion.

Red Lobster is encouraging consumers to share their Big Festival of Shrimp experience on social media via Red Lobster's Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages.
