Slapfish to open 10 new restaurants by the end of 2018

Aggressive expansion is on the menu for modern, fast-casual restaurant chain Slapfish in 2018, with the foodservice outfit aiming to open 10 additional locations before the end of the year.

Deals are closing quickly across the United States, the company said, with seven different states already slated to open a Slapfish this year. Starting in summer 2018, Slapfish – which has 13 established restaurants so far – will nearly double in size, with new locations opening in Rockville, Maryland; Ashburn and Arlington, Virginia; Chandler and Glendale, Arizona; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; San Jose, California; Washington D.C.; Orlando Florida; Hilton Head, South Carolina; and Farmington, Utah. Further ahead in the future, Slapfish also has its sights set on opening storefronts in London, United Kingdom; Charleston, South Carolina; Savannah, Georgia; and Denver, Colorado.

While the company celebrated an impressive year of growth in 2017, opening five new restaurants, 2018 is shaping up to be perhaps the Slapfish’s most noteworthy year yet, the restaurant’s founder and CEO, Andrew Gruel, said.

“2018 is quickly becoming an unforgettable year for Slapfish,” Gruel said. “The company started as a food truck with the goal of getting people to eat more seafood by bringing responsibly-sourced, chef-driven dishes to the masses, and it has been incredible to see this idea turn into a soon-to-be international seafood concept. Slapfish is the first restaurant of its kind, and we are beyond excited to share our vision of flippin’ honest seafood with the world.”

Slapfish focuses on presenting seafood dishes with bold recipes, and is known for its original items like Chowder Fries, Clobster Grilled Cheese, and Lobster Grinders, as well as a rotating selection of well-managed seafood incorporated into salads, sandwiches, and bowls. The company is committed to transparency and authenticity, and “bringing a truly disruptive approach to sourcing and menu development,” it said.

The brand currently has more than 150 locations in development, according to a recent Slapfish press release.
