U.K.-based Owner Venture Managers acquires Premier Fish
Premier Fish, a fish supplier sourcing and distributing fish caught off the coast of southern England, has been purchased by Owner Venture Managers, a London-based venture capital firm.
Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
Premier Fish got its start in 1995 as a local retailer of fresh and frozen seafood and game. It primarily sources product caught off the coast of Dorset and Hampshire, including crab, lobster, plaice, Dover sole, wild bass, grey mullet and mackerel. It has expanded to include deliveries to restaurants throughout southern England.
Premier Fish founder Steve Gillingham will remain with the company as managing director. According to a press release, Gillingham “will be supported by the former CEO of a leading quoted food group who will be joining the company as executive chairman to help take the business forward.”
“We are excited by this opportunity and are much looking forward to working with and supporting Steve in growing the business and taking it to the next level,” said Owner Venture Managers Director James Wooster. “Steve has done a tremendous job in starting the business from scratch and taking it to where it is today and we were interested in acquiring it because we can see its significant potential. We are particularly keen to make acquisitions of related businesses as part of that growth plan.”
