US restaurant chain unveils new lobster taco

Taco Del Mar, which operates more than 100 restaurants in the United States and Canada, is rolling out a limited-time Lobster and Seafood Taco.

Through 29 July, the Denver, Colorado, U.S.A.-based restaurant chain is offering the taco, which contains North Atlantic lobster sourced both from the U.S and Canada, along with wild Alaska pollock.

“We believe this is a great product and on-brand for Taco Del Mar,” Eric Grundmeier, senior vice president and chief supply officer for REGO Restaurant Group, which owns Taco Del Mar, told SeafoodSource.

King & Prince Seafood Corp. in Brunswick, Georgia, U.S.A., is supplying the lobster and pollock, according to Grundmeier.

The new dish is served cold with lobster and seafood mixed with onions, serrano peppers and cilantro. Served on warm corn tortillas with shredded cabbage, it also features Taco Del Mar’s signature white sauce and house-made pico de gallo.

“As we seek to innovate our menu and embrace evolving food trends that appeal most to our consumer, the Lobster and Seafood Taco is an on-brand, flavorful, and seasonally appropriate addition to the menu,” Sheila Zimmerman, vice president of marketing for REGO Restaurant Group, said in a press release.

Customers who purchase any entree from 14 May through 21 May can buy the Lobster and Seafood Taco for USD 1.00 (EUR 0.89) each.
