Two major United Kingdom seafood suppliers are both launching new fish cakes in conjunction with Seafood Week, which runs from 6 October through 13 October.
Young’s Seafood is rolling out five new products – including fish cakes and fish bakes – under its frozen Young’s Gastro brand. And The Saucy Fish Co. is launching a new flavor of fish cake in Sainsbury’s stores.
“As the U.K.’s leading fish and seafood manufacturer, our mission is to inspire people to love fish, and Seafood Week is an excellent opportunity to do just that,” said Yvonne Adam, marketing director for Young’s Seafood. “These new additions to our Gastro brand, which is the U.K.’s number-one premium frozen fish brand, provide more great ways to enjoy restaurant-quality fish straight from the freezer.”
Young’s new “Melting Middle” fish cakes’ flavors include: Chunky Salmon with a classic lemon hollandaise and Chunky Cod with a creamy rocket Mornay sauce. The supplier’s three new flavors of fish bakes include: Spicy Tomato, Cheese & Leek, and Broccoli Mornay.
Saucy Fish also rolled out a new fish cake flavor: Thai Spiced Fishcakes with a Red Chilli and Coconut Centre.
“The product serves two and is now available in over 370 Sainsbury’s stores nationwide,” the supplier said in a statement.
“Our frozen saucy-centered fishcakes have been so well received by consumers across the U.K., which led to us developing another exciting product for our new frozen fish shoppers,” said Amanda Webb, marketing director for Saucy Fish. “This is the first time Saucy Fish has used Thai flavors in the fish cake range; the red chili and coconut complements the fish perfectly and we’re confident this will be a firm freezer favorite in no time.”
Saucy Fish already markets frozen Salmon and Cod Fishcakes with a Hollandaise Centre and frozen Smoked Haddock Fishcakes with a Vintage Cheddar Centre.
