Ace Aquatec hires Duncan Montgomery as first CFO

Dundee, United Kingdom-based Ace Aquatec has hired Duncan Montgomery as its first chief financial officer.

Ace Aquatec specializes in providing new technological solutions to aquaculture, including electric and acoustic predator deterrent systems, an underwater camera for precise biomass readings, and a Humane Stunner which won the 2019 Global Aquaculture Alliance Innovation Award.

Montgomery previously worked as finance director at international travel business Audley Travel, and as a director in PwC’s deals practice.

“Ace Aquatec has a strong reputation as disruptors and innovators in the aquaculture and technology sector,” Montgomery said in a press release. “There’s a real opportunity to become leaders in this space with an exciting pipeline of products that help address some of the industry’s significant environmental, social, and governance challenges. I’m looking forward to working alongside the team to continue and manage the rapid growth that Ace is experiencing.”

Ace Aquatec was founded in 1999 by inventor John Ace Hopkins and investor Annette Pyne-Carter “after they saw the potential technological innovation could have in accelerating the adoption of responsible fish-farming practices,” the company said. In the past year, Ace Aquatec has doubled in size, opening new divisions in Norway, Chile, and North America. The company also has an office in Australia and now has 30 employees.

“I am delighted to welcome Duncan to our team at such an exciting time for the business,” Ace Aquatec CEO Nathan Pyne-Carter said. “Duncan brings great experience of operating in senior financial management positions within growing and successful businesses and leading high-performing finance teams. I am confident that he will be a huge asset to our organization and will play a pivotal role in the future success of the business as we continue to execute our growth strategy.”
