NSF International sells Dutch Harbor, Alaska-based laboratory

NSF International has sold its Dutch Harbor, Alaska-based laboratory, the organization announced on Monday, 8 July.

Jeff Brammer, who recently served as NSF International’s seafood services business unit manager in North America, has purchased the laboratory, which will henceforth operate under the name Makushin Bay Resources. All systems, scientific equipment, and the State of Alaska registration will remain with the lab, NSF International said in a press release announcing the sale.

Analytical services – from customized evaluations to specifications and methodologies and chemical and microbiological testing – will continue to be a primary function of Makushin Bay Resources, according to Brammer.

“We recognize this purchase is a significant milestone and growth opportunity for our staff and the Dutch Harbor community,” Brammer said. “Moving forward as Makushin Bay Resources with our dedicated expert staff, we will continue to grow our operations by focusing on the individual needs of each client. This will allow us to expand and align services with the current business environment. Over the past few years I have had the privilege of getting to know many people and businesses in the Unalaska/Dutch Harbor region and I’ve witnessed the vibrant community spirit. We are committed to this region and plan to be an integral part for the long term.”

With more than 30 years of seafood industry experience, Brammer, in his most recent role with NSF International, managed seafood operations within North America. He was the owner of North Country Seafood, specializing in trading seafood commodities throughout the United States, prior to his time with NSF International.

NSF International said it will continue to provide seafood services from offices and labs in Everett, Washington; Elizabeth, New Jersey.; Santiago, Chile; San Miguel, Peru; Guayaquil, Ecuador; Shanghai, China; Busan, South Korea; Delhi, India; Bangkok, Thailand and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
