Westmorland Fisheries’ Nat Richard leaving company

Westmorland Fisheries Director of Corporate Affairs Nat Richard will be leaving the company later this month.

Richard began in his role at Westmorland in September 2013, according to his LinkedIn page. His last day at the Cap-Pelé, New Brunswick, Canada-based company will be 23 August, he said in an email.

“The time is ripe for me to take a step back and seek new opportunities,” he wrote. “The company is in a strong position and [Westmorland President] Russel [Jacob] is supported by one of the most capable teams in the industry.”

A Cap-Pelé native, Richard previously worked as the director of corporate communications at J.D. Riving and in various policy roles with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and with the Canadian government’s embassy in Washington D.C., in the U.S. capital.

“However unexpected, it’s been one of the highlights of my professional life to be a small part of Westmorland’s 45-year strong history, to contribute to a growing, successful business in my hometown of Cap-Pelé,” he said in the email.

Richard did not say what his future plans entailed, and calls from SeafoodSource to Richard were not returned as of the afternoon of 19 August.
