The Kingfish Company has expanded its retail reach with placements in HelloFresh meal kits in Europe and the United States, and a new offering available at Whole Foods UK outlets.
HelloFresh, which has more than three million customers worldwide, has added a second Kingfish Company recipe for its Dutch subscribers.
“The positive feedback from our customers motivated the recipe development team to develop a dedicated second yellowtail recipe,” HelloFresh Netherlands New Ingredients Specialist Annouka Boekling said in a press release. “Our customers say that they feel that the yellowtail from The Kingfish Company is truly a luxury fish compared to other types of fish. The texture is nice and compact, the fish keeps its shape, the skin stays in place, making it much easier to cook, so it's also foolproof.”
The Kingfish Company, which is expanding its recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) farm in Kats, the Netherlands and building a new farm in Jonesport, Maine, U.S.A., also scored a contact to provide Whole Foods UK with a new ready-to-cook product, according to Kingfish Company CEO Ohad Maiman.
“These product developments prove the versatility and attractiveness of our high-value product in the retail direct to consumer channels,” he said. “During the COVID-19 pandemic, these sales outlets have become increasingly important.”
Maiman confirmed the company recently received certification from World Sustainability Organization’s Friend of the Sea eco-label program. The company received the certification after an audit finding its operation conforms to the program’s regulations governing sustainable practices.
“We are very pleased with the certification from Friend of the Sea as it further confirms our proven commitment to sector leading best practices in quality and sustainability,” said Maiman.
The Kingfish Company also has Aquaculture Stewardship Council and Best Aquaculture Practices certifications, and is recommended as green choice by the Good Fish Foundation.
