US Foods unveils Harbor Banks shrimp, cod items

Harbor Banks Tempura Shrimp and Harbor Banks Cracker Breaded Atlantic Cod Tail are among US Foods’ new 2020 Spring Scoop lineup for restaurants.

US Foods’ Spring Scoop features several new meat, seafood, and plant-based products designed to help bar-and-grill operators “easily get creative and innovate with their menus, with elevated, upsell-worthy versions of their traditional bar-and-grill fare,” US Foods said in a press release.

“Casual dining growth, including bar-and-grill, has not kept up with the competition of fast casual or fine dining so it’s more important than ever for neighborhood bar-and-grill operators to take a fresh look at their menu,” US Foods Vice President of Product Development Stacey Kinkaid said.

Fifty-four percent of diners consider new menu items important to their decision when selecting a restaurant, according to a recent US Foods survey.

Harbor Banks Tempura Shrimp utilizes 4-star Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP)-certified shrimp with a batter that “delivers the perfect texture and satisfying crunch,” US Foods said. “The shrimp’s delicate flavor shines through, ready for pairing with signature dips and sauces.”

Meanwhile, its new Harbor Banks Cracker Breaded Atlantic Cod Tail has a premium, buttery cracker breading and carries a Serve Good designation.

“It is a terrific choice for sandwiches and entrées, with its mild flavor pairing beautifully with a variety of creative seasonings and accompaniments,” US Foods said.

Other new items in the Spring Scoop lineup include: Chef’s Line All Natural Seasoned Prime Rib Steak Burger, Chef’s Line All Natural Pulled Uncured Bacon, and Molly’s Kitchen Plant-Based Burger Patty.
