Bergen, Norway-based pelagic fish product solutions provider Pelagia has acquired aquaculture equipment supplier Fjord Solutions.

Pelagia produces a variety of products, including sludge and water treatment systems for dewatering, storage, and value creation under its Blue Ocean Technology brand.

According to a release from Pelagia, the acquisition will allow the company to offer a complete range of sludge solutions to its clients and will bring all of Fjord Solutions’ employees, products, and patents to Pelagia.

Pelagia CEO Egil Magne Haugstad called the company “a valuable addition to [Pelagia’s] portfolio.”

“It gives us the opportunity to combine sludge collection at sea with dewatering, intermediate storage, and transport. We provide our customers with fewer interfaces, lower operating costs, and better resource utilization,” he said.

“By gathering our resources and expertise in a single unit, we are accelerating the development of new solutions and streamlining existing offerings. Our goal is to expand our market share by covering more links in the value chain, thereby delivering even more comprehensive and competitive solutions to the industry," Pelagia COO and Head of Sludge Knut Antonsen.

Fjord Solutions CEO Daria Lysova said that "becoming part of Pelagia is the right choice for us."

"It gives us the opportunity to further develop our innovative solutions, while strengthening our ability to deliver complete systems to the industry,” she said.
