ASMI hires new communications director

The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) has hired Jeremy Woodrow as the organization’s new communications director.

Woodrow most recently served as the communications officer for the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, where he led all internal and external communications for the department, according to an ASMI press release.

In his new role, Woodrow will oversee ASMI’s national communications program, which is run from ASMI headquarters in Juneau, Alaska.
ASMI is a public-private partnership between the State of Alaska and the Alaska seafood industry, established to foster economic development of seafood from Alaska.

“ASMI plays a key role in the positioning Alaska’s seafood industry as a competitive market-driven food production industry and premium global brand,” ASMI said in its release. “A longtime Juneau resident from a commercial fishing family, Woodrow brings not only communications expertise but also a wealth of industry knowledge to the role.”

Woodrow has previously worked with ASMI as an intern in its communications program and with ASMI’s former PR agency, Schiedermayer and Associates Alaska. Woodrow has a bachelor’s degree in public relations and advertising from Northern Arizona University.

“As ASMI communications director, I will build upon the success of my predecessors and deliver meaningful results directly tied to Alaska Seafood’s local, national and global campaigns,” Woodrow said. “As a lifelong Alaskan, it is an honor to have the opportunity to dedicate myself to sharing Alaska Seafood’s amazing story.”
