BAP program appoints a new market development executive

The Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) program has found a new director of market development for the Americas in its own Chris Keller, the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) announced on 14 July.

In his new role, Keller – who joined GAA 14 months ago as the BAP market development manager of retail for North America – will oversee the entire market development team in North America, working alongside Molly Jacques and Tim Hogan to grow adoption of the BAP third-party certification program among retailers and restaurateurs.

“Chris has been with GAA for just over a year, and during that time his responsibilities have grown,” said GAA Executive Director Wally Stevens in a prepared statement. “We are delighted that Chris has taken on this expanded role as he is committed to advancing responsible and sustainable aquaculture around the globe.”

“I am very excited for the opportunity to be a part of the continued growth of the BAP program in the Americas,” added Keller. “In the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to meet and work with some of the most passionate people in the industry, and I look forward to seeing us expand the reach of responsible aquaculture.”

Before being welcomed aboard the BAP team, Keller had spent significant time within the retail realm, most notably at Walmart, where he worked for 15 years in various capacities, including senior buyer.
