Birds Eye owner Nomad Foods parts ways with Peter Hajipieris, creator of its sustainability program

Nomad Foods Europe, the owner of the Birds Eye, Iglo and Findus brands, has parted ways with CSR and External Affairs Director Peter Hajipieris.

The firm made the announcement in a press release, saying the move was made following its completed integration into the Findus continental European markets. On 1 February, Caroline Nobilé, the current marketing and development director for Findus France, will take over as NFE's sustainability director following Hajipieris’ departure.

“We’re taking this opportunity to focus on bringing our Forever Food Together story to more consumers and customers through our brand strategy. To achieve this ambition, the role requires a more commercial profile, so I’m delighted that Caroline has taken up this new position," said Stefan Descheemaeker, CEO of Nomad Foods Europe. "CSR remains at the heart of our business and we are committed to building on the strong foundations we have in place. I believe that Caroline is the right person to take Forever Food Together to the next even more successful phase.”

According to a company statement, Hajipieris will be pursuing “his own interests and new opportunities in the food industry in sustainability, food policy and external affairs,” after spending over eight years with Nomad Foods Europe.

“Peter has done a great job creating our CSR model and embedding Forever Food Together across the company since he joined. I would like to thank him for his commitment and hard work," Descheemaeker said.

Since joining the company in 2008, Hajipieris served in various senior roles and went on to craft Nomad Food’s sustainability program, Forever Food Together (FFT), which focuses “on providing consumers with tasty nutritious dishes and tackling food waste through sustainable food products.”

“The business is at a natural integration change point for me to now leave,” Hajipieris said. “I wish the company and Caroline every success and want to thank the great colleagues that supported me across all the countries to make Forever Food Together the success it is today."

Additional key achievements for Hajipieris during his time with the company include driving responsible sourcing and manufacturing across the business; selling the largest range of MSC-certified fish products globally; activating the world‘s first research to show the role that frozen food can play in tackling food waste; and driving healthier meal choices through innovation.
