Bristol Bay salmon run may be trending several days late

Bristol Bay’s 3 July harvest was 1.4 million sockeye strong, upping the current season’s overall catch to 6.4 million.

Counting escapements and in-river estimates, the salmon run in Bristol Bay on Sunday through midnight was tallied at a total of 8.9 million, reported KDLG. If the preseason estimates of 46-50 million sockeye prove accurate, this means the run is trending several days late.

The official tallies reported by KDLG are as follows for 3 June: Ugashik 238,000 (1157 sockeye per avg. drift delivery); Egegik 321,000 (928); Naknek-Kvichak 473,000 (743); Nushagak 400,000 (645).
