Full events schedule released for 2023 Seafood Expo North America

The full schedule of free, participatory events has been released for the 2023 Seafood Expo North America, taking place 12 to 14 March, 2023 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.

This year’s events schedule includes new product showcases, the annual Seafood Excellence Awards, chef demonstrations, brand and wellbeing coaching sessions, and the expo’s annual oyster-shucking competition.

“A variety of exciting, insightful and informative events await attendees of the Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America,” event organizer Diversified Communications said in a press release. [Editor’s note: Diversified Communications also owns and operates SeafoodSource.] “Designed to enhance attendee’s experience and product knowledge, the special events are free to all attendees.”

The New Product Showcase at Seafood Expo North America will feature seafood products, condiments, and culinary dishes launched within the past 18 months by exhibiting companies. The Featured Product Showcase highlights the best seafood products at the event regardless of the product’s introduction date.

The winners of the 2023 Seafood Excellence Awards will be announced at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, 12 March. The awards recognize the best new retail and foodservice seafood products in the North American seafood market.

On Monday, 13 March, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., on behalf of the Japan Farmed Fish Export Association, World Sushi Skills Institute Director General Hirotoshi Ogawa will provide a demonstration of how to make traditional Japanese sushi and a lead a discussion of hygienic seafood practices.

Later that day, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Two Fish Crab Shack Founder and CEO Yasmin Curtis will demonstrate how to recreate a one-pot seafood boil at home with Two Fish Foods’ Seafood Boil Bags. Two Fish offers three different types of seafood boil products that include snow crab legs, shrimp, corn, and potatoes, mixed with the company’s “3 The Chi Way” sauce.

At 2:30 p.m. on Monday, 13 March, the 15th annual Seafood Expo North America Oyster-Shucking Competition will see the best shuckers in the U.S. face off against each other and the clock to shuck as many oysters as they can in a time-limited contest.

At the “Empowerment Lounge” on all three days of the expo, individual and group coaching will be available for seafood professionals.

And throughout the event, dozens of chef demonstrations will take place on the show floor.

In addition, a comprehensive conference program will take place on all three days of the event, including a keynote address by Brown University Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs Senior Fellow and Kroll Institute Global Chief Economist Megan Greene at 11 a.m. on Sunday, 12 March. The three-day conference program includes a slate of more than 30 educational sessions featuring seafood, retail, environmental, and governmental experts in panels and presentations covering a number of topics relevant to the seafood industry.
