HB Grandi lands a bigger catch in 2015

The fishing fleet owned by HB Grandi landed 15 percent more fish in 2015 than the previous year, thanks to a significant increase in pelagic catches, confirmed the Icelandic seafood company.

HB Grandi landed 176,000 metric tons (MT) of fish last year. This included 128,000 MT of pelagics, 25 percent more than in 2014, valued at ISK 4.6 billion (EUR 32.7 million; USD 35.1 million). However, the total value of its catch fell by 9.5 percent or ISK 1.4 billion (EUR 9.9 million; USD 10.7 million) to ISK 16.7 billion (EUR 118.6 million; USD 127.3 million).

Its freezer trawler catches were down by around 12 percent to 21,530 MT, valued at more than ISK 6.9 billion (EUR 49 million; USD 52.6 million), while its wetfish trawlers caught 26,301 MT of fish, up slightly on the previous year.

The value of its wetfish landings totaled ISK 5.1 billion (EUR 36.1 million; USD 38.9 million), up 12 percent.
