King & Prince backs effort to deliver more seafood to US food banks

In an effort to heed the call for more nutrient-rich proteins in food banks across the United States, Georgia-based King & Prince Seafood, in collaboration with the current National Fisheries Institute Future Leaders class, has produced a video detailing the benefits and intricacies of SeaShare – a non-profit dedicated to delivering donated seafood to American food pantries and shelters.

The video, entitled “Every Dollar is Magic,” is intended to raise awareness regarding protein scarcity in food banks, as well as raise money to fund future and current SeaShare ventures.

“Getting seafood to food banks is a powerful idea,” said Michael Alexander, president of King & Prince Seafood. “Not only does it address a critical need; it brings all the health benefits of seafood to people who need it most. I’m delighted that we can do our part.”

SeaShare works with various fishermen, seafood companies, and logistics and distribution suppliers to ensure that donated seafood of all kinds makes it into the Feeding America network of food banks located throughout the country. The video is one that the SeaShare team, including Executive Director Jim Harmon, are enthused to see used as a tool by industry partners to help spread the word of the non-profit’s cause.

“King & Prince has been very generous over the years, and this year they have added intellectual and creative donations, so we are very excited to benefit from this video,” said Harmon.
