Oyster book representing Ireland in world cookbook awards

“Oyster Gastronomy” by Máirín Uí Chomáin and Michael O’Meara has been selected to represent Ireland at the forthcoming World Cookbook Awards in Yantai, China, in May 2018.

Published by Artisan House, the new book contains more than 100 recipes featuring oysters with photography by Walter Pfeiffer and O’Meara. The book’s foreword is written by Richard Donnelly, aquaculture business planning manager with Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM).

Richard Corrigan, chef/patron of Bentley’s and Virginia Lodge, describes the cookbook as “a worthy tribute to this fabulous delicacy” and doing “a wonderful job of demystifying the oyster as well as highlighting its incredible versatility.”

The authors have enjoyed award success with previous seafood titles. “Sea Gastronomy” by O’Meara won the overall Best Seafood & Fish Cookbook in the World at the 2016 Gourmand Awards, while Chomáin’s “Oyster Cuisine” won the World Gourmand Cookbook Award for Best Fishbook in 2004.
