Raw Seafoods owners opening new cold storage facility in Massachusetts

The owners of Raw Seafoods will open a new cold storage facility in Fall River, Massachusetts, U.S.A. next month.

The 80,000-square-foot warehouse will open by late August 2017, Jason Hutchens, president of both Raw Seafoods and Ice Cube Cold Storage and Logistics, said in a press release.

“Demand for frozen storage space continues to grow in the region, so we feel this is an excellent time to make this investment in capacity,” Hutchens said.

Once it opens, the warehouse will be Raw Seafoods’ primary storage facility for its seafood, according to marketing coordinator Becca Massey, adding that additional space in the facility will be leased out to other companies.

The facility will feature state-of-the-art technology for customers to have real-time access to storage information and services, according to Massey. It will contain 15,000 pallet positions for frozen products, and will have the capacity to be expanded in the future, she said.

Initially the company will hire 10 employees to staff the facility, though the company expects to hire additional employees as the facility’s usage increases.

“This is an exciting milestone for our business,” Ice Cube Cold Storage Bob O’Connor said. “We will now be positioned to provide our customers with a complete solution for frozen storage, transportation, and logistics management.”
