Regal Springs delivers on tilapia pledge to SeaShare

Following the giveaway of 1,000 tilapia tacos at last week’s Seafood Expo North America (SENA) event, Regal Springs has announced that it has surmounted its matching goal of donating 5,000 pounds of its fish to SeaShare.

Regal Springs served grilled fish tacos at SENA with its own tilapia, warm flour tortillas and a variety of salsas and spices. For every taco sampled in Boston at the event, Regal Springs pledged to donate 5 pounds of tilapia to the non-profit hunger relief organization SeaShare.

“We were really happy with the response from everyone at the expo. Every person who came by our booth to sample a taco helped us reach our goal,” said Francis Yupangco, global marketing manager of Regal Springs. “Since the beginning, philanthropy has been a huge part of Regal Springs. It’s great to see people share our enthusiasm for supporting such great organizations like SeaShare.”

Since December 2015, Regal Springs has donated more than 35,000 pounds of tilapia to the SeaShare.

“We were thrilled to work with Regal Springs again,” said Jim Harmon, executive director of SeaShare. “With their generosity, we are able to provide thousands of people with nutrient-rich, high quality fish that they might not have access to otherwise.”

Regal Springs Tilapia fish are grown in deep-water lakes in Mexico, Honduras and Indonesia; they swim in large floating nets against water currents.
