Seafood Prix d’Elite awards get a makeover

Changes await this year’s Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global event, which will host a re-launch of the Seafood Prix d’Elite awards competition under a new name come April.

By way of a letter sent to exhibitors, show-organizer Diversified Communications – the parent company to SeafoodSource – announced its plans to introduce the Seafood Excellence Global awards competition in 2016 in place of  the Seafood Prix d’Elite awards, which served as the show's premiere competition program for 15 years. The competition aims to feature, recognize and showcase the best new seafood products available on the showroom floor.

“After a successful run of the Seafood Prix d’Elite, it was time to relaunch the event to reflect key products within the global seafood market and give all exhibitors an opportunity to be part of it. You can now enter the products you consider your best available on the market regardless of where and when they were introduced,” wrote Liz Plizga, Seafood Group Vice President for Diversified Communications.

All products entered into the Seafood Excellence Global awards will be on display at the competition’s official stand located in the Patio over the course of the three day exposition. Grand prizes will be handed out to the Best Retail Product and Best Hotel/Restaurant/Catering Product. Special awards will also be decided upon by the competition judges based on the following categories: innovation; convenience; health and nutrition; retail packaging; and seafood product line.

Applications will be collected up until 9 February 2016 at 11:59 p.m. EDT, and can be filled out online [www.seafoodexpo.com/global]. Finalists will be announced in March 2016, and the awards will be bestowed during a reception tentatively scheduled to take place on 26 April 2016 in Auditorium 2000 from 18:15 until 20:00 at the BRUSSELS EXPO in Belgium.
