Elverta, California, U.S.A.-based Sterling Caviar has won two major awards from the Specialty Food Association.

The company’s Sterling Caviar Royal Grade product won the SFA’s 2022 Sofi Awards Product of the Year and the Sofi Gold Award in the Seafood Category.

"This is a true testament to the commitment and pride our entire staff have in producing a quality product,” Sterling Caviar General Manager and COO Myra Tallerico said in a press release. “We have such a hardworking team and it's very humbling to know that our product is appreciated. Winning both these two awards within weeks of each other is the ultimate stamp of approval and we're very grateful.”

A panel of specialty food experts chose the Sterling Caviar product for the top prize out of nearly 2,000 entries in 53 product categories, as judged on flavor, appearance, texture, aroma, ingredient quality, and innovation. Winners were showcased at the 2022 Summer Fancy Food Show, which took place 12 to 14 June in New York City.

Acme Smoked Fish’s Togarashi Smoked Salmon was chosen as the Sofi Gold Award for Best New Product in the Seafood Category.

Sterling Caviar was purchased by Eugene Fernandez in November 2020. Fernandez told SeafoodSource he wants to significantly ramp up production and distribution of U.S.-sourced caviar in the domestic market. Jeff Sedacca, the former CEO of Sunnyvale Seafood, was hired as the company's CEO in March 2022.
