The 2018 Top 25 North American Seafood Suppliers, Part 1
This is Part 1 of this year’s SeafoodSource Top 25 North American Seafood Suppliers list. Check back with SeafoodSource later this week for Part 2 of the series, to be published on Thursday, 27 September, 2018.
As we have done every year since 1999, when SeafoodSource was known as SeaFood Business magazine, we have surveyed the industry to determine the largest players on the North American continent. We are happy to add to the legacy with this updated version of the list, which takes into account sales figures from 2017, and for some companies who report year-end results in March, annual results stretching into 2018.
The majority of North American seafood firms are privately owned and, therefore, under no obligation to report their revenue. Following our long-standing policy, we have carried forward the previous year’s sales total for companies that reported their total sales figure in 2017, but not for this year’s update. Unfortunately, this year’s list does not include a growing group of companies that have not reported their annual sales data to SeafoodSource for two or more years.
Despite that, the Top 25 Seafood Suppliers of North America remains insightful. Containing suppliers, wholesalers, and distributors – companies with vastly different business models – the list reveals the diversity and vibrancy of the seafood industry in North America.
