Vinh Hoan replaces CEO with former sales director Ngo Vi Tam Nguyen

Vietnamese pangasius farming company Vinh Hoan has named Ngo Vi Tam Nguyen, its former sales and marketing director, as its new CEO.

Truong Thi Le Khanh, the company’s former CEO, has stepped down effective immediately, though she will retain her position as chair of the Vinh Hoan Board of Management.

“The appointment of Ms. Nguyen Vi Tam as General Director is the result of a year-long organization improvement process to manage the Group’s ongoing expansion and to improve corporate governance,” Le Khanh said in a press release.

Vinh Hoan is one of Vietnam’s largest seafood exporters and its largest pangasius exporter, accounting for more than USD 160 million (EUR 144 million) in annual sales, the equivalent of around 17 percent of the country’s total pangasius exports.

Tam Nguyen has led Vinh Hoan’s sales and marketing team for the past 10 years and was responsible for a fivefold increase in export sales, according to the company. She oversaw new product development and expansion, and the establishment of sale offices in the United States, Singapore and China; she spearheaded the company’s achievement of a zero-anti-dumping duty status in coordination with the U.S. Department of Commerce as well.

Tam Nguyen has a bachelor degree in law and an MBA from Holland’s Maastricht School of Management. She joined Vinh Hoan in 2003 as a salesperson, was promoted to sales manager in 2005 and deputy general director in 2008. She joined the executive management team as sales and marketing director in 2014.

“As the Group grew its production scale, she played an important role in expanding its marketing and branding activities to ensure that there is a corresponding demand for the Group’s products,” the company said in its release. “She built an international sales team that speaks multiple languages and is experienced in multiple distribution channels and major markets globally.”

In her new position, Tam Nguyen will be responsible for establishing a long-term growth vision for the company and overall execution of its strategy. She will lead Vinh Hoan’s investor relations, corporate development, sustainability development and senior talent development.

“I am honored to have been appointed as General Director. It is a privilege to be part of an organization that is built on a commitment to quality, sustainability and innovation,” Tam Nguyen said. “Looking ahead, the Group will continue to expand its marketing and branding capabilities while adhereing to its business principles of providing high quality and safe aquaculture protein to consumers globally and promoting social responsibility. The Group believes that its relentless pursuit of these goals will lead to sustainable growth, solidify its global leadership, and create long-term value for its shareholders, employees and its communities.”
