US government seeks large volume of canned salmon

The United States Department of Agriculture is asking suppliers to bid on its request for nearly 184,000 cases of canned pink salmon.

The agency needs 183,921 total cases of the salmon, to be used in the National School Lunch Program and other Federal Food and Nutrition Assistance programs. The monetary value of the canned pink salmon was not listed.

Suppliers must submit bids by 29 May, and the USDA will announce winning bidders by midnight on 6 June.

Suppliers will need to deliver the canned salmon to various cities in Illinois, Missouri, New York, Texas, Michigan, California, and other states, along with Puerto Rico.

Deliveries will be made between 1 September, 2019 and 6 February 6, 2020.

In March, the USDA also asked for bids on 324,000 pounds of frozen wild salmon fillets.
