Reduced Q1 salmon harvest, wild-catch volume for Lerøy

Norwegian-headquartered fish farming and fishing company Lerøy Seafood Group (LSG) harvested 32,300 metric tons (MT) of salmon and trout in the first quarter of this year, representing a decrease of 5,300 MT compared with the corresponding period of 2018.

The contribution to the farmed total from the operations at Lerøy Aurora amounted to 4,900 MT (down from 9,000 MT in Q1 2018), Lerøy Midt provided 12,300 MT (down from 12,100 MT) and Lerøy Sjøtroll contributed 15,000 MT (down from 16,500 MT).

Following the 2016 acquisitions of Havfisk and Norway Seafoods, LSG is also Norway’s largest whitefish corporation. For Q1 2019, Havfisk’s catch volume totaled 20,500 MT, representing a decrease of 1,800 MT year-on-year. Of the last quarter’s landings, cod accounted for 8,900 MT (down from 9,300 MT).
