US shrimp imports hold steady

The United States imported 134,576 metric tons (MT) of shrimp in the first-quarter of this year, a volume that was on par with the corresponding period of 2015, according to the latest statistics from NOAA Fisheries.

Indonesia was the U.S. market’s No. 1 supplier during this period with 27,356 MT, followed closely by India with 24,199 MT, and then Ecuador and Thailand with 18,354 MT and 17,166 MT respectively.
