Great American Seafood and Frequentz forge strategic global alliance in the name of supply chain transparency

U.S.A.-based seafood supplier Great American Seafood Imports Company has joined forces with traceability technologies firm Frequentz Inc. in a strategic partnership geared toward solidifying customer trust and providing full, end-to-end supply chain visibility.

Great American Seafood Imports Company will utilize Frequentz’s robust track and trace system to enhance its technical capacity to combat the effects of illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing, the company said in a news release. It will also work with Frequentz’s fully integrated supply chain visibility solution to associate third party certification as well as to conduct and confirm fair labor recording.

“We chose to align ourselves with Frequentz for many reasons,” said Sam Galletti, President of Great American Seafood Imports Company, which is the procurement and marketing division, and marketplace brand, of its parent company, Southwind Foods Company. “As the industry continues to adapt to the ever-changing global demands of our customers and consumers, Frequentz’s product tracking software will provide us with the necessary insights that are essential.”

Versatile and adaptable to the size and standards of any business, Frequentz’s system is not solely reliant upon GS1 standardization – as such, international seafood traceability and compliance can be simplified through the use of Frequentz’s interfaces moving forward.

“Frequentz has developed a platform for product traceability that provides transparency to the seafood supply chain that will generate significant data sets, including social responsibility, sustainability, quality controls and third party certification on the production of fisheries” said Frankie Terzoli, Vice President, Global Sales, Frequentz Inc. “With the addition of Frequentz’s reporting system to Great American Seafood’s vendor requirements, traceability will take its next step forward in protecting the consumer and the environment.”

The partnership with Frequentz aligns well with Great American Seafood Imports Company’s core initiatives, Galletti explained.

“Supply chain traceability helps us accelerate our growth by building customer trust,” Galletti said to SeafoodSource. “We need to lead and champion end-to-end supply chain visibility. This is important to us, important to our customers and important for the industry. It is our responsibility to do our part to preserve the resources. We all need to manage our supply responsibly.”

As part of their working partnership, Great American Seafood and Frequentz have begun deploying a three-stage traceability rollout in Southeast Asia to include suppliers in Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, India and China. “Our partnership with Frequentz is deep into Phase 1. This is the time we spend putting together supplier support for the program,” Galletti noted.

Great American Seafood will be exhibiting at this year’s Seafood Expo North America event in Boston, Massachusetts from 19 to 21 March as Booth No. 917. Among the products offered in the company’s portfolio include those featuring a new “skin-wrap” packaged range for retail – the result of extensive collaboration between the Great American Seafood and its valued customer base.

“Working with our customers to find the best packaging and marketing options for their stores is how we support sales growth,” said Galletti. “Chilled skin-packaging is just one of many options we offer.”
