Reality series “Kings of Fi$h” to film in Boston at SENA17

Southern California-based restaurant San Pedro Fish Market will be heading to the opposite side of the United States this week to Seafood Expo North America / Seafood Processing North America in Boston, with the cast and crew of the popular Kings of Fi$h online reality show in tow.

Having been in the business of seafood foodservice for 60 years, San Pedro Fish Market – which it claims is "one of the most Instagrammed restaurants in America" – has worked hard to establish and expand its presence in the digital sphere, creating the Kings of Fi$h reality show to chronicle the journey of the business in a broadly accessible way. Over the course of 2016, the restaurant completed close to 24 million interactions across each of its social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

“After 60 years in business, Kings of Fi$h is our very fun way of involving everyone involved in the market in a chronicle of a business that loves serving great seafood to families,” San Pedro Fish Market Vice President Michael Ungaro said.

The reality series has been viewed online nearly 5.5 million times and has received a number of accolades and award recognition, including the Best Short at the San Pedro International Film Festival in Los Angeles, California, and the award for best branded online video from the W3 Awards. The show crew will be onsite at SENA17 on 19 March, at the San Pedro Fish Market booth (No. booth 2949) interacting with convention goers, “as the market continues to place its world famous shrimp tray dinners with buyers from across the United States,” according to the restaurant.

“We now regularly serve four generations of families who weekly travel from over 120 miles away to sit seaside and enjoy our family style custom seafood trays and enjoy themselves. Our time in Boston at the Seafood Expo will allow our company to provide that experience to families across the country,” Ungaro said.

“It’s our work with professionals like those at the Seafood Expo that allow us to expand our business and we want to chronicle that,” Ungaro said. “Kings of Fi$h is a lighthearted look at a business that now includes in-store retail partners and shipping of online orders nationally and we look forward to seeing all of the convention goers in the booth on 19 March.”

Approximately 1.3 million paying guests have come to the San Pedro Fish Market for its world-famous shrimp tray in the past year, making it one of the largest paid tourist attractions on the West Coast, the company said.

“We always strive for authenticity and quality in everything we do,” Ungaro said. “Our frozen shrimp tray dinners that are bought in retail stores contain the exact same ingredients as our fresh product at the market, and our show, Kings of Fi$h, authentically chronicles the fun behind the whole process!”

SENA17 will take place from 19 to 21 March, 2017, at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center near to the city’s waterfront.
