How Pebble Mine threatens the Alaska Seafood brand | Product

$30.00

A proposal to develop what could possibly be the world’s largest gold and copper mine, which was shelved during the administration of former U.S. President Barack Obama, recently received a fresh lease on life under the administration of President Donald Trump, a champion of increased domestic mining. In October, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced it would reconsider the project, and in December, the company that wants to develop the mine announced it had formally applied for a permit. In response to the proposal, a group of business leaders formed a coalition that pledges to defend the fishing industry. The Businesses for Bristol Bay coalition believes the proposed Pebble Mine poses an existential threat to Bristol Bay and Alaska’s Seafood brand. Join Brett Veerhusen, the principal at Ocean Strategies, Inc. and the public affairs specialist for the coalition, as he discusses the latest efforts to protect Bristol Bay, Alaska, and America’s salmon economy from the proposed Pebble Mine project.
