The Seafood Certification & Ratings Collaboration recently released a report, Sustainable Seafood: A Global Benchmark, that provides a comprehensive picture of the current status of global fisheries and aquaculture, as well as case studies highlighting progress made and improvement priorities for eight seafood sectors. The five members of the Collaboration – Aquaculture Stewardship Council, Fair Trade USA, Marine Stewardship Council, Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch, and Sustainable Fisheries Partnership – are committed to supporting more fisheries and aquaculture producers to get on a path toward sustainability. On September 25, the Collaboration will release the new online, interactive version of the benchmark report. Jennifer Dianto Kemmerly of Monterey Bay Aquarium and Brad Spear of Sustainable Fisheries Partnership will share this new tool that combines data from five member organizations, designed to give industry, NGOs, and other stakeholders critical information to inform improvement efforts. They will walk through how to use the online platform by sharing two case studies highlighting fishery and aquaculture improvement successes and challenges.
