Sirane to debut wood-smoked flavor cooking bag at SEG

United Kingdom-based packing product company Sirane is unveiling a new wood-smoked flavor cooking bag at the upcoming Seafood Expo Global April 26 to 28 in Brussels, Belgium.

The Sira-Cook Supreme is a foil bag containing a wood chip sachet enhanced with liquid smoke. It can be used in ovens, on barbecues, hot plates and griddles, according to a company press release.

“Smoked food is very popular – and can be incredibly tasty – and this is a great way to offer customers the experience of wood-smoked food without any of the hassle,” said Jeremy Haydn-Davies, Sirane’s sales director for food packaging.

The bag includes other innovations including a perforated non-stick layer, a clear top panel and an easy-opening mechanism.

“The food will … retain all the juices and flavours as well as the goodness, and could be sold over the counter in the pack,” Sirane managing director Simon Balderson said. “For the customer there would be no mess, no smell and no need to handle the food. The bag can be heat-sealed or folded over, and add genuine value to retail food sales.”

Hayden-Davies said all food cooked in the Sira-Cook bags  including seafood, meat and vegetables – gains a tender, wood-smoked taste.

“Using enhanced wood chips means … the same wood-fired flavours can be created whichever cooking method is used,” he said.

Sirane is a packaging product development-to-manufacture company based in Telford, Shropshire, England. It has four divisions: food packaging; medical and healthcare; industrial and horticultural. Specialisms include absorbency and cooking bags.

Sirane can be found at Seafood Expo Global at stand 4-5803.
