1.) Cooke Aquaculture
Headquarters: Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick, Canada
Cooke Aquaculture initially began as a small salmon farming company in Kelly Cove, New Brunswick. But not long after it was founded, Glenn Cooke and his family decided to pursue aggressive growth, with acquisitions and a “strategic search for development opportunities” forming a centerpiece of the company’s business plan. In 1994, Cooke established True North Salmon, and between 1997 and 2010, the company made a series of acquisitions that grew the company quickly. With its purchase of Icicle Seafoods in 2016, it occupies the top spot on SeafoodSource's list of the top 25 largest seafood companies in North America.
2015 total sales: USD 727.1 million
