Fire destroys AquaChile processing plant

An AquaChile processing plant in Dalcahue, Chiloé, Chile, was destroyed by a fire on Sunday, the company has confirmed.

The early morning fire at the Hueñocoihue plant owned by Empresas AquaChile quickly spread and destroyed the buildings. At the time of the accident, there were only security personnel and no plant workers in the plant. No injuries were reported.

Empresas AquaChile is awaiting the final inspection from the authorities to be able to determine the cause of the fire. There is insurance coverage.

Hueñocoihue is a processing plant that operates seasonally during the spring and summer months. AquaChile will respect the periods covered by existing work contracts.

Empresas AquaChile has four alternative processing plants, which during this contingency period will enable the continued production and supply to clients in Chile and the rest of the world.
